Cross the range south of Whitianga. Walk the easy path to the 309 Kauri Grove of majestic mature trees.
Opportunity to ride the bush railway at Driving Creek (own expense). Time to browse the quality craft shops at Coromandel town.
The road north predominately follows the coastline. Spectacular scenery of craggy rock outcrops, beautiful old pohutukawa trees (flowering Nov/Dec) Hauraki Gulf islands, bird life & sometimes dolphins !
